The East Coast Beach

The East Coast Beach

I had cycled along the East Coast Park couple of days ago, and was impressed by the works done be the national park of Singapore.  I realised this narrow strip of land along the south-eastern coast of Singapore had underwent a facelift since years back.  The change make the East Coast a place to live in with healthy lifestyle.

Under construction

Under construction

The existing stretch of park starts from Fort Road, since the construction that was supposed to be done by May 2008 was not even near completion yet.  Nevertheless, from Fort Road, we have the pavement with tall trees on both side, and cycling in the evening makes me feel like driving in European hills, less the undulating terrain.

As we proceed further, we will see the sea, with the sun behind the trees. We will bypass the new chill out area at the old big splash, where cafeteria and new fast food outlets are for the young and hippies.
Further down will be an area of greenery again before we hit the Macdonald’s area, where most people met there to cycle, roller blade, BBQ and even camping.  It’s one of the more populated area along the east coast park.
As we proceed further, we will reach the chalet area, where you will hear occassional pop musics and smell exquisite BBQ food.  Then you will see a strech of renowned local seafood restuarant, where gourmets flocked down to savour the local Singaporean delicacies.

Next, will be the new sports area for water skiing with the 360 restuarant/bar just beside the man-made lagoon. Further down, you will have the infamous East Coast Hawker, where you will feel that the night in Singapore is just too short.
Beyond the hawker center comes a long stretch of road, with the Bedok Jetty on the right, where many locals are fishing and practicing their rod skills, and a new sunset bay further down. It’s a cool and serence chill out place.
If we go even further towards the east, we will hit the Saiing club, the the outbound school, you will see ocassional campers within their premises, if not the quiet yachts moon tanning.

Just before the strip towards Safra country club, you will find a canal where you can enjoy the high tides of the East Coast sea.  This is a relatively cosy area, pretty cool for couples who want to have some quiet times
The new stretch of pavement towards Safra country club, will lead you to the NSRCC chalet in my previous post, but unfortunately i find that the lightings are too bright, for security reasons, as compared to the old dirt track that i had used to bash across.:)

The serene Changi Beach

The serene Changi Beach

I did not continue my journey further as i have to make a return trip home.  However, further down will be the Changi Coastal Road, which will link you to Changi Beach Park, another cosy area with nice beach; then will be Changi Village, for you to recharge your energy with local food and sorts.

Further journey will be up to individuals, but we can reach Pasir Ris, Tampines, then Bedok Reservoir, and back to East Coast Park again via other routes:)  Cheers to National Park Board of Singapore
